Disney Month and More announced!

The Month of May is the first of two themed months.  May will be Disney month and I have some awesome games planned for it. There will be a couple of classic Disney movie games to be played as well as some classics like Mickey Mania and Quackshot.  There will also be a block of the Disney Afternoon games. I am looking into the possibility of having a Chip n'n Dale Rescue Rangers team based race.

June will be Sonic Fan Game month.  I'll be looking at some of the best Sonic Fan games out there leading up the the release of Sonic Mania. Games currently planned are Sonic Robo Blast 2, Sonic Megamix, Sonic Time Twisted and Sonic Nebulous.  Should be a fun experience.  So stay tuned and get ready for some fun.

Top 25 Sega Genesis Games Day 1 25 - 21

Seeing how it's the 25th anniversary of the Sega Genesis (Megadrive for the rest of the world) I see fit to join the masses and do a cliched top games list for the fabled system.  The Genesis was my catapult into what made me a Sega fanboy for the longest time up til the Dreamcast's demise.  So let's honor Sega's most successful home console with a Top 25 games list.  Keep in mind this list includes games I had played numerous times either by borrowing from a friend, renting, owned, or have owned.  Here's part 1 of 5 that will span out the next five days.

GVN Quick Review: Ducktales Remastered (Multi)

Ducktales Remastered
Publisher: Capcom
Developer: Wayforward Technologies
Genre: Adventure
Release: Aug 13th, 2013(PSN, Wii U, Steam) Sept 11th, 2013 (XBLA)

As a child growing up, Ducktales and the rest of the Disney Afternoon shows, were ingrained in my mind.  The cartoon was fun, adventurous and creative with memorable characters.  To this day, I look back at this show with fondness.  The original game was also stellar as well, doing a great job of adapting characters from the show and putting them into a well made platformer that required quite a bit of patience and memorization to beat.

Diehard Gamefan Review: Disney Planes (Wii)

Well tickle me surprised; I did not expect Disney Planes to actually be a good game. I have seen the movie with my son recently, and I walked away with the impression that it was an okay underdog family movie. Definitely not one of Disney’s best efforts, honestly, because they were trying to cash in on the overwhelming success of the Cars franchise with this spinoff. Now, as most cash-in game properties go with Disney these days, they tend to range from below average to horrible. So you can imagine my surprise when I popped in Disney Planes for the Nintendo Wii and found an experience that I think would be worthwhile for the entire family to play.
